GIRLS! ...what would you like at your local beauty salon? To all the girls, My sister owns two beauty salons and with the credit crunch hitting us and many women resulting to using cheaper beauty products at home etc she has as predicted, noticed fewer customers! Fake tan, how to remove & psoriasis Problem!? Right so I'm getting a cure for psoriasis. My prom is next Wednesday and the woman curing me didn't think they'd be cleared up in time so she advised me to get a new type of tan with aloe vera in it a week before the prom to soothe them down. Why do some Hairdressers insist on cutting your hair instead of trimming it like you've asked them to? I am African American and have been growing my hair out for a long time now wearing it natural. Sometimes I would press and curl it. I went to a local Beauty Salon that specializes in ethnic hair and wanted a professional press n curl. The Hairdresser asked if I wanted my ends trimmed because it would "look" better. I have soft fine curly hair and it looked good to me. I at first said, "NO" and then decided on the TRIM, NOT a hair cut. I even told her just "sweep off the ends" which is less than an actual trim. Before I went to that Salon my hair was way past my shoulders and now it's just below my ears "near" my shoulders. I DID not ask for that! I told her I wanted to keep my hair past my shoulders. I took $10 off her fee and explained that she did not do what I told her to do. My ends were NOT that dead for crying out loud. WHY DO HAIRDRESSERS DO THIS TO PEOPLE? How do I write a sucessful complaint letter and what laws should I be aware of? Basically I believe I have been mistreated by a local beauty salon recently and am not quite sure how to go about making an official complaint that will actually get taken seriously ( as I am only 17). I have also been told there is a possibility I could sue the company in question and receive compensation, however I would like to know my legal rights properly in order for my letter to be taken seriously. I visited the salon for a spray tan, not my first there. I'm sure I am not the only women to feel nervous about a spray tan as it can feel quite invasive standing almost naked infront of a complete stranger, but I always reassure my self they are proffesionals and will not judge you. I am a very self consious person anyway, but I also have prominant scars on my wrists from self harming when I was younger. Now I would please ask that people do not offer advise about this as it was in the past and they were just scars not wounds. The issue is that this information was shared with a member of the general public a few weeks later when she too was getting a spray tan. I found out because she was a friend of a friend who told me what had been said. The women also told the client they were scratches all down my wrists, and to tell my friend, but I can assure you they were only scars. It may seem silly but this has upset me deeply, and my confidence has suffered majorly because of this. I now feel to self consious to ever get a spray tan again at any salon, and as if I can never do normal things because the scars from my bullies will always hold me back. It's one thing to judge people but to actually share personal information with members of the generall public must be deemed legally wrong in some way. If I write a letter convincing enough to scare them and I get a written apoligy, this is essentially admitance which will assist my case in a court of law. I also may be able to get a written statement from the client they said the things too. Baisically has anyone got any advise on this matter? And sorry for the essay!

Help...Spray tan virgin!!? i had this voucher at my local beauty salon for an all over spray tan, so being me i just booked it and thought nothing of it lol. ive never had a spray tan in my whole life, usally i just do it myself at home with gradual tanners :) so i was just wondering what to expect when i go to get it done, i have some tan left on my skin from my last DIY application so is that going to effect it? i asked at the salon and the lady just said expoliate the night before so to those who have had spray tans...whats it like? do i have to like strip? and does it go orange? thank you in advance :)

Do I have to write them another check? I recently went to a local beauty salon to get my hair cut. I paid with a check ($75.00) and left. The next morning (a Sunday) the place was broken into and their cash register stolen. This business is now requesting that I write them another check. Am I required to or not? If I don't, can they take me to court to make me reimburse them? I have no problem paying for goods and/or services that I have received. What I have a problem with is people being irresponsible with the payment I give them, then expecting me to pay to put a stop on the first check, and then pay them again. Even if I put a stop on the check, there's no guarantee it won't be cashed after the stop ends. Also they've been acting extremely odd about the whole deal, and even told me NOT to put a stop on the check. That's why I don't want to write another check, not because I don't want to pay for services rendered.

Is this shampoo good for my hair? Well, I've been searching for a shampoo that does not dry out your scalp once your done washing it. Lately, I have been noticing small pieces of hair falling out of my scalp, and I think it was because of the shampoo I have been using. After weeks of searching, I think I have found a perfect brand!. The prvious shampoo that I bought was only $2:49, and it was called "Suave". I asked people what they thought of it, and everyone told me that type of shampoo is not good for you as it ruins your scalp and can cause hair loss. So, is this new shampoo good for my hair and, is it good to use on a daily basis to keep my scalp clean and moist, or is it bad meaning it will dry out my scalp? This girl wanted her hair bleached and I DESTROYED IT!? Hey my name is Courtney and I am 15. So I have a job at a local beauty salon and even though I am not licensed I am AMAZING at cutting and dying hair and stuff and they always let me do it. So this girl I hate named Jane walked in. It was so busy so I quickly went to the back room and grabbed a wig and some sunglasses and took her to one of the rooms which had no one inside (we have separate rooms for all customers for privacy) She wanted her hair dyed blond (it is almost black right now) and she wanted it cut short. I said no problem I will need to bleach it (SHE DIDNT RECOGNIZE ME!) I grabbed some bleach and I used WAY to much on purpose and left it in and then I punched out and left. How long should I wait to dye my hair again? I dyed it today and you can not tell it is dyed. I used a revlon dye that said it had no peroxide in it. This is my first time dyeing my hair myself and have only had my hair dyed professionally once and that was back in 2005. So you can say my hair is real healthy. I started to do her eyebrows, and I made them look really ugly and jagged. Then she asked what they look like and I got a magazine that had really pretty eyebrows on thema nd showed Jane that I did this to her. She was happy. Then I started doing her hair, I got lavender hair dye from the back and dyed her hair lavender and I cut it short. I shaved off random chunks and I just told her I am thinning it. I told her to wait twenty minutes. I left and quickly took the wig and glasses off and started servicing another customer. About 1 hour later, I heard screaming from Janes room. SHe was screaming for someone to come help her. The owner (Miranda) went inside. Jane said that she has been waiting for an hour and no one came. Miranda asked who was helping her. Jane said Victoria and Miranda said a Victoria doesn't work here. Miranda took the dye out of her hair and it looked purple and so ugly eww, Jane freaked out and left. HAHAHAH. Will I get caught? I ahve the next 2 weeks off.

Where can I get affordable Beauty Insurance for the salon I work at? After working for other salons giving them half of my earnings, I decided to go in business for myself at a local salon and day spa. hey ladies...or guys if you do this sorta thing... beauty questions? So I really can't afford going to the salon and getting facial waxing done as often as I would like... I mean I get my eyebrows done every once and a while for shaping, but just pluck every other day or so. But I can't afford to do a lip and chin wax as much as I'd like. I'm a starving student who still would like to look good ya know? :) I have tried those cheap wax strip patch things that you heat up in your hand and they come with the cooling oil cloths... but they suck. They don't heat up well, pull off more skin than hair, and give me pimples. I'm not looking to spend a ton of money but I don't use cheap quality stuff when it comes to my skin. For example I use Bare Minerals for make up, even though it cost a little more, because it's natural and not made with animal products or used on animals for testing. So if you know of any products with in that price range that I can buy at a local beauty shop or even off line, that works and doesn't ruin my skin I would love to hear about it. Thanks!

Facail Hair Removal - Spots? I suffer from dark facial hair and have just started waxing after years of bleaching. I'm using Nads Facial Hair Removal Strips and they work well at getting the hair out but the next day I get bad spots, like white heads, all over the area I have waxed. By the time the spots have gone the hair has started to grow back. I have spoken to a beauty therapist in my local salon who told me that this will stop happening after once I have waxed a few more times and my skin has got used to it, she also recommended using witch hazel to cleanse the skin after waxing and to not but any lotion / cream on the area for 24 hours to keep the pores clear. I did this but still got the spots! Grrrrrrrr! I'd like to keep waxing as the hair with gradually come back thinner but I don't want the spots, any suggestions? Please Help!

in mega pain after a back massage.....what do i do please? i have osteo-arthritis of the spine. Booked myself in for a back massage at a local 'beauty clinic' thinking it would do me some good..... massage was so-so, felt ok, bit rough in places, but i had specified firm touch.... there was no consultation (which i had expected) and i wasn't entirely convinced she was performing any set routine (ie swedish/sports massage) i am in sooooo much pain now, i am aware that things can sometimes feel worse before they get better, but i can't remember the last time my back felt this bad.... my skin is also very sore to the touch, and feels bruised (no visible sign) feel like a right wally, because as i walked out of the salon i congratulated the therapist on a job well done, and praised her massage skills..... I woke up that morning like any other morning; I did my regular hygiene routine and got dressed to go to my mother’s beauty supply store. My mother and I had two customers and my elderly aunt had come to visit us as well. Since it was a beauty supply store we would always keep the door open, we had little thought of the potential danger that could have lead to. It was a normal day, so it seemed, customers came, shopped, and left, earlier that day. At around 4:20pm, all of a sudden out of no where and African American male with a gun in hand, wearing a dark hoodie and baggie pants, entered into my mothers salon demanding us to hand over all of our cash. I was so frightened, I didn’t know what was going on, at first, but I soon realized immediately after I saw my mother, aunt and the two clients fall to their knees pleading for their lives and crying out,” DON’T SHOOT!, PLEASE DON’T SHOOT!, suddenly a feeling of death came over me I just knew it was my last day on earth, I began thinking of all the goals I had not yet accomplished, my whole life just merely flashed before my very own eyes. He began commanding us to give up all we had including credit cards and cash, we did as he told us yet still he thought it wasn’t enough so he yelled out, “THIS CAN’T BE ALL THE MONEY YOU HAVE, THERE HAS TO BE MORE”! I became so scared, because I knew we had given him all we had, so I didn’t know what he was going to do next. He ordered us to enter into the small shop bathroom, one by one, while empting out our pockets, I didn’t know what to do I was so terrified of what he was going to do to us once we where all in the bathroom. At last, we where all inside of the small salon bathroom, he closed the door, and I heard him rumbling on the Inside of the salon moving things around roughly. He then abruptly opened the door and I was so frightened. He then asked if any of us knew how to open the cash register and to my surprise my elderly aunt volunteered and opened the register for him, to his surprise there was only two dollars in there. He then violently escorted my aunt back into the bathroom with the gun up to her head; I was so terrified of whether he would shoot or not, but luckily he didn’t. We all remained in the bathroom until we felt the coast was clear of the robber, we then slowly opened the bathroom door and went out. The shop was a wreck although everyone was walking about the salon as if they were absolutely sure the robber was gone I still had doubt in my mind. For some odd reason there was a feeling of fear in my heart, and that somewhere in the dark corners of the shop the robber was lurking waiting to attack once again. After we all left the bathroom we called 911 immediately. After five minutes the police came, being that I was still shaken up from the robbery it seemed as if they took five hours. The police began questioning everyone about what happened, when it came time for me to tell my scenario, I began bursting into tears, because I felt as though I was reliving the whole predicament. The police began checking for finger prints. Along with the police came the local news. They asked me to explain what happened but I refused, because I didn’t want to be seen on television, as a victim of an armed robbery. So my mother and the other victims, testified on the news. I was just thirteen years old at the time, I felt so terrified and invaded. I couldn’t sleep alone that night or many nights after that, so I ran to my mother’s room each night. I felt safe and secure in the comfort of my mothers arms. I would have never thought in a million years something so drastic could have happened to someone of my age. I would always hear of unfortunate situations like that happening to people, on the news but who would have thought it could actually happen to me. It really changed my perspective of life forever I became paranoid I would always for some odd reason be afraid to sit or be in front of windows. One night as my mother and I was doing hair a scary feeling overwhelmed me I felt as if someone would shoot at me, or that there would be a drive by that I would be caught up in. I felt a strong urge to want to duck and hide, in order to get out of the line of fire, but I knew if I did such a thing I would be looked upon as a fool. I became frightened by people who seemed mysterious; a simple trip from my house to the car became difficult for me to do, as before I would do so effortlessly and not think anything of it. Because I would always think that there was someone out to get me and I always had to watch my back. I remember a time when I would be in a store or bank or simply outside and there would be a group of people particularly black men or even just one black man walking toward my direction. I would feel so scared of what they might have been up to; I always kept a “better safe then sorry”, mentality. The reason in which I directed my fear towards a certain race, was primarily because, the person that robbed us was a black male. When ever I would see people dressed in thuggish clothing, such as baggie clothing and pants hanging off waist, I would become petrified. The robbery changed my way of life, I was no longer free to be a worriless child I would constantly be worrying that he would strike again and this time he might shoot us. I felt like, if something so horrible, that I never thought could ever happen to me in a million years happened to me, I knew that almost anything could happen to me now. I finally opened my eyes to realize that the world is not a safe place to be. He not only robbed me and took my money he also took away my freedom to be me, my life, my feeling of self assurance, and last but not least my courage to live. He left me insecure, helpless and hopeless. I could no longer go to the local convenient store to pick up my favorite snack although I could have asked someone to go and get it for me I feared for their lives as well. A trip to the bank, to me would be equivalent to a trip to the gas chamber. Simply because that’s where majority of crimes reside in, being that they hold large amounts of money, criminals feed upon organizations like that. My life was changed drastically, but I finally found a way of escape through Jesus. He helped me through all of my feelings of hurt, fear, and bondage. He opened up my eyes to a new light of hope; I finally realized I had a savior who cared for me. Although I got saved at the age of five, and I all ready believed in Jesus, I didn’t really have a close relationship with him. I began praying by my bedside day and night and whenever I was afraid to go into a store or bank, I immediately began praying saying, “Lord please send your divine protection over me, in the mighty name of Jesus”. By doing so I gained confidence in God and I also built a stronger relationship with the Lord. I found boldness through him I now had the courage to walk into stores with no fear, sit by windows with no fear; I was finally free from bondage. Jesus had set me free, my eyes where finally open to see and realize the true love of God. I finally knew that no weapon formed against me shall prosper, that I am a child of the highest God. He had his angels camped round about me. He had his divine protection over my life because of my choice to serve him.

Can someone help? I think i ruined my hair!? Two days ago i attempted to highlight my reddish brown hair and it turned out PINKish. So i went to my local beauty supply store and got professional bleach, it turned orangeish and blonde. So, yesterday i went to the salon and asked for help. The stylist bleached my hair twice and put on a deep conditioning treatment and ITS STILL a brassy yellow. I work in a professional enviornment so i can't exactly keep it like this.
