Buying beauty products at the mall?

It seems to me beauty products at Macy's or Nordstrom are wayyy more expensive than at like Walmart or Target even on same brands. I'm talking like a lip gloss, eyeshadow, etc. For an eyeshadow compact you would pay like $25 at Macys you can get a similar one for under 10 bucks at Walmart beauty section. Looks to me they're the same kind. I'd like to know what the difference is and would you much rather prefer buying beauty products at Walmart or Macys-type departments?

1. it's better quality stuff at department stores, but I buy all my makeup from regular stores like target and it works fine.

3. At the mall, you are buying the brand name. Thats ok if the products are better for you. Make up varies on a personal level. What works for me may not work for you. I buy moisturizer from clinique because its best for my skin type - I prefer it. Most of my makeup, I just buy from walmart because I havent found a difference between the expensive stuff and the cheap stuff. No one can really tell you for sure what is better for you.
4. Well for me I go to get some of my makeup at the department store to make sure it matchs my outfit or skintone and I like some their products. Sometimes I can't find the same products at other stores as I do at the mall. It also depends what you want
5. Well, There are several factors to an expensive brand. If the brand is a big label , they will over price it but is most likely their products work good otherwise they wouln't be known so well. Another factor to consider How long has the company been around. There might be small brands but they have been around for a while, which menas people have accepted them. Since we all have different types of skin different brands may feel better other others. I highly recomend to check the ingridients that beauty products have. If you are goign to buy something expensive buy something with a vitamin to enhance your skin. If not go for something a little less prici. Love Mary Kay :)
6. buy whats good for your skin, just remember, you don't have to pay for expensive products, the only people benefiting from this is the manufacture, they make billions a year. there is no such thing as a miracle cream to erase wrinkles, eat right, drink lots of water and stay out of the sun, use a sun block as a moisturizer, go for the less expensive products
7. I love Walmart. They have awesome products, and they can be just as good as what you find at Macy's or Nordstroms. Here is what I buy at department stores: Perfumes, powders, foundations, concealers, eyelash curlers. For powders, concealers, and foundations, you need an exact match to your skin, and something that will suit your skin type as well. You need to try them on and experiment to see which one suits you best. Also, pressed powders are creamier, and more finely milled when you pay more for them. And for the trendiest and latest colours, sometimes there are products that you cannot buy from the drugstore. Origins has an awesome array of natural products. Chanel, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Prescriptives, Clinique all have the latest colours and good ingredients. At Walmart, I buy all my skin care, hair care, and simple basics like mascara, fun shadow shades and scented lotions. It's up to personal choice and how much you want to spend in each store.
8. Macys and Smashbox.com These are fine products and they last a long time. The other stores you have mentioned do not last long. You will turn around and purchase more. You pay for what you get.
9. Believe me their is no or little difference in the products. The onl;y difference is the name brand or the sore you purchase it from. Putting a lot of stuff is sometimes bad for your skin. The real concern should be to remove all make up at night. The less make up you wear the better and the better you look. Go for the bargain make ups. It's all on how you apply.
