Girl talk: What are your beauty secrets & rituals?

Please share: I think foundation is @ waste, most people only need a tinted moisturizer to have a beautiful natural looking complexion. Baking soda whitens your teeth just as well as commercial whiteners. I believe in cleanses, you have to start within.

  1. I use a half and half combo of honey and olive oil in my hair and let it sit for an hour once a week. It makes my hair shiny and soo soft.
  2. I rinse my hair with the coldest water possible. I also rinse my skin with cold water to. The coldness improves hair groth and texture. It also makes skin smoother. This could take a while for changes to show, though. Also, mixing ground unooked flaxseed in your food makes hair shinier and softer.
  3. I have a couple of beauty secrets. 1. instead of buying those sheets that soak up the oil in your face, you can use a toilet seat cover. It is made from the same material as the oil blotting sheets and are free!!!! 2. when putting on blush, smile. That way you highlight your cheekbones. 3.when putting on mascara blink onto the blush. By blinking, you get more of the mascara onto your eyelashes, making them seem thicker 4. masking tape removes blackheads. 5. waterproof sunscreen makes foundation last longer. 6. apply makeup in natural light. 7. rubbing visine on your pimples gets rid of the redness. I have a ton more of beauty tips and tricks. If you want anymore e-mail me at citygirl_stephanie@yahoo.com
  4. I buy a darker compressed powder, add regular baby powder to lighten the colour.......goes a long way. I mix nail polishes together to make my own tint.
  5. I think foundation depends on the individual. I would love to skip that step, but I am very fair and uneven skin coloring so I use a mineral based one daily. Use foundation and moisturizers with a sunscreen. Clean your face daily, use an eye cream, a treatment product (something that will help to reverse some of the daily anti-oxidant damaging effects of the environment) and a moisturizer. This routine works as long as you are diligent and do it twice a day. Doesn't matter if you spend big bucks at the department store or less at the grocery store. I have been faithful at this for the last 24 years (I am 44) and I hardly have a line on my face (especially around my eyes). Don't tell me it's heredity - my sister and cousin (13 months younger and 1 month older, respectively) have skin that looks 10 years older than mine. Both worshiped the sun - tell you something?!?!
